A lifelong Hoosier, Dr. Stacy Hootman began her career as a high school chemistry and physics teacher in northern Indiana. In 2011 she was awarded the American Association of Physics Teachers Pre-College Physics Teaching Award, the Presidential Award for Excellence in Math and Science Teaching, and was named the Indiana Teacher of the Year. Stacy authored Teacher Friendly Physics to share her teaching methods with others. Following the completion of her doctorate in Curriculum & Instruction from Indiana University, Stacy began working at the University of Indianapolis where she taught physics courses for non-majors and worked with preservice elementary education majors in their science methods course. In 2022, Stacy became the inaugural Dean of the School of Health Sciences and the School of Arts, Sciences, and Education at Ivy Tech Community College, Hamilton County campus. Currently, she also serves as the President of the Hoosier Association of Science Teachers, Inc. (HASTI).
